Handcuffs Puzzle

This puzzle was interesting, because a first my partner andd I were convinced the solution had something to do with stepping through or over the string. It took us becoming tangled a several times before we settled on the idea that it must have some thing to do with the connection at the wrists. We thought back to the buttonhole puzzle, and then sorted it out from there.
